Refund & Cancellation Policy — Trailer Hire
This is Part C of our Terms & Conditions, covering payment, cancellation and refund terms for trailer hire bookings. It forms part of the same agreement as our Terms & Conditions and Delivery Policy.
Last updated: 1 August 2026
1. Payment to secure a booking
To secure your booking: bookings made more than 30 days before the collection date require 50% of the total Rental Fee payable on booking, with the balance due before collection. Bookings made less than 30 days before the collection date require 100% of the total Rental Fee payable on booking.
The Breakage Deposit (clause 6 of the Terms & Conditions) is payable in addition, before collection.
2. Cancellations
All cancellations must be made in writing (email is acceptable) and are effective only once we acknowledge receipt in writing.
| When you cancel | Refund of the Rental Fee |
|---|---|
| 30 or more days before arrival | 90% refunded (10% retained) |
| 1 to 29 days before arrival | 10% refunded (90% retained) |
3. Cancellation on or after collection
Once the Rental Period has commenced (i.e. once the Trailer has been collected or delivered), the booking is non-refundable, and no refund of the Rental Fee is due for any early return or unused portion.
4. Postponements (travel restrictions)
In the event of a government-imposed travel restriction that prevents your trip from taking place, we are happy to offer one postponement of your booking to a new date, subject to availability. This covers any official travel restriction (for example, lockdowns, border closures or regional travel bans imposed by a competent authority), not only pandemic-related ones. The postponement is limited to one per booking and does not, on its own, entitle you to a cash refund.
5. Breakage Deposit refunds
The Breakage Deposit is handled separately from the Rental Fee. It is refunded within 5 working days after the Trailer and Equipment are returned and inspected, less any deductions for damage, loss, cleaning, shortfalls or applicable insurance excess (see clause 6 of the Terms & Conditions).
6. How refunds are paid
Approved refunds are paid to the same account or payment method used for the original payment, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
7. Consumer Protection Act
Any cancellation charges are intended to be a reasonable estimate of the costs and losses we incur as a result of a cancellation, and are subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
